I’m back! This is a very personal podcast for me, probably the most personal I’ve made. I go over why I took a break and talk about where my head’s been and where the podcast will go from here. I hope you like it… maybe you can relate. If you do like, PLEASE let me know. Any feedback really is VITAL so make yourself known out there, if you hear me. Here’s the playlist.

Your deepest and most power show yet. Channel this energy into programming the pod to touch the listeners inner sanctum.
I hope you find peace knowing you did your best. Just as your parents tried their best to raise you.
Hey Matt,
Just want to let you know that you are loved. Life ain’t easy and you have to search and find the joy in it. As others have posted, you’ve built something incredible and we all owe you a big thanks. I’ve been listening since 2006 and yeah it really f’ing sucks what Sony did. But you kept on keeping on and we’re all so lucky you did that. Pink Floyd is my favorite band, ever since I was a little kid and you’ve given me something to look forward to. Yeah I’ve heard all the ROIOs but you made them special.
On the home front I’m really sorry about your parents. It’s the hardest thing to go through, especially for the kids that end up assisting their parents growing old. I had a good friend with dementia and it’s heartbreaking. Do the best you can, that’s all you can do.
Lastly as a fellow greater Bostonian and a spouse in education, it’s really great what you’re doing for the school’s radio program. You’re a good man Charlie Brown.
Wow Doc, amazing podcast, truly touching! I’m one of those listeners who will always be here, no matter what. I eagerly await every new release, download it, and listen carefully; I never miss a single episode. I hope you find peace with the challenges in your life and keep rocking the best podcast in the world.
Hi Doc!
I’ve been with you since Sept 2005 (BD039) and enjoyed every minute of it.
Good to see you back with us all. I was introduced to the band back in 1972 with the album ‘Meddle’ especially ‘Echoes’. As some other guys have mentioned, yes I particularly enjoy the ROIO’s but for newbie guys here who do not know where to get ROIO’s a good OFFICIAL source is is the Internet Archive website – all freely downloadable. (go to ‘Audio’ – select ‘Music arts and Culture’ – search for ‘Pink Floyd’.)
Keep going please Doc at your own pace – whatever you do will be worth its weight in gold!
I’m all about the raw honesty these days. Talking about it out loud helps a lot.
I’m glad you’re going to continue at your leisure. You’ve always been real and I appreciate you a lot for that.
I wish I had more words but when I’m this moved by something I get…. lost for words (bah-dum). Wishing you nothing but the best. You know how to reach me if you need to vent.
Hi Doc,
this is and always has been a very special place for me and many people waiting not only for Pink Floyd music, but especially for your wonderful input of many forms.
Matt, I’ve been a long-time listener, although I haven’t posted much.
I was originally into this podcast for the ROIOs, especially as a younger fan who didn’t know anywhere near as much about the band’s live history as I do now, and it sucks that you can’t do that anymore.
Still, listening to this was like hearing from an old friend for the first time in too long.
I’m glad you’re around, and if working at your own pace is what keeps you here, that’s fine with me.
Sorry about your parents, that’s just about my worst nightmare as we all reach our autumn years. Do whatever you have to in order to keep it together.
The 501st/Vader stuff is seriously awesome, keep it up and it’d be cool if you get any good stories out of it (or even just get the chance to make a few people’s day’s better)
Anyway, thanks for doing what you do, and I’ll be here the next time the Doctor is in
Love this one, Matt. I am praying for you and your family. Watching your parents age and slowly fade away can be very difficult. Sadly, losing them is harder. There are no words (alone) that could ever convey the true feelings of losing a family member, whether they be a parent or sibling, and I’ve lost one of each in the last four years plus a mother-in-law just three weeks ago. The closest I could ever come is David’s “A Boat Lies Waiting.” I lose it every time I hear this song, whether it be in my back yard, on the beach, at MSG in November 2024. A worthy coda to add to the playlist, if you’re so inclined. If you ever need an ear to get you through these challenging times with your parents, let me know. You’ve given so much enjoyment to me, its the least I could do (well, that and a donation which is on the way). Thanks, brother.
P.S., May the Force be with you, even if you are a playing a Sith Lord (I met Vader in the late 70/s too – my parents had a neighbor who was one of the first to go out in full costumed gear). Star Wars, like Pink Floyd, is sacred to me – I thank God for George Lucas whose dreams gave me a youth filled with adventure, mystery, joy, faith, and happiness that I was blessed to share with my late brother. And, like your teaching career, you’re doing it for the best of reasons – the kids. All the best.
Keep it up Matt! I have been listening to you since the wonderful good old days of your super sound! Wish those doctored concert recordings were still around! After all some have been out for more than 50 years now. The powers that be should relax a bit and know that what you do only inspires people. And what you did with them was just awesome, fun, and inspirational. Keep on going and we will be there for the ride!
Totally, absolutely agree on all this put here: the ‘doctored’ broadcasts were treasures ( all those extra snippets of info to them; the Taft Auditorium Embryo- otherwise who could know what was going on ): all in all, Doc, indispensable for all Floydisns
Hi Doc,
You may remember that not long after you started your podcast, I read an article about you and Brain Damage in a London newspaper. When I got back home, I contacted you, and sent you the article, which you posted on your Facebook page. I think that I have listened to every one of your 350 shows since then. (show #158 AFG GINOS MIX 09-19 is my ALL TIME #1Favorite).
I just turned 80, and I am so happy that you are back. Just wanted to be sure to let you that I plan to stay around and “listen to some good music” with you for the future.
Hopefully you will have better days. I lost my mother (who was raised in Quincy) to cancer and my father to Alzheimer after 13 years. In 1968 I was drafted into the Army and spent 1969 in the infantry in Vietnam, so I am somewhat aware of what you are dealing with. And as you already know, Floyd music is great medicine. Hang in there. $$ to follow. Mike S
You’ve been a steadfast supporter! Thank you! Sorry about your mom. I wonder if she knew my dad, he grew up in Quincy.
gracias!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still listening, still following.
the doc is awsome.
hey doc..I dont know if im allowed to do this but I am going to mention what you said about therapy on my podcast..I mean it is called random music therapy..but I did not know it was an unwritten rule not to show your emotions..kinda kills the meaning of my show..just know..I think feelings should be part of music..and please..dont ever quit..I def did not leave after the boots got pulled..I just like your style and love pf…keep it up holmes…shout out to you on ep. 7
Thank you and sure feel free
Great to hear from you and I’m sorry for all the crap you’re going through, man. I hope you can keep it up! Apologies if I’ve asked this before, but have you considered the Patreon subscription model? I’ll be tossing a few coins in the hat right after this.
Don’t let the bastards get you down!
Thank you for generous donation! I have thought of Patreon, but it just doesn’t really fit what I do.
Lots I could say, but hopefully this makes the point I want to make Doc:
in the interim months, I’ve had your homepage open and I’ve just been playing and replaying, and replaying, the latest shows – Cold, Reminiscing, Summer’s Day, Space (stunning), Gastro (which is a masterpiece), etc – over and over, just waiting for the next.
Undervalued?, yes. Under-appreciated?, not a chance.
Out here, listening, enjoying, rejoicing. Frisson-prone by Floydpodcast. Tarab.
TC
Just want you to know that your podcast has been a part of my life for 15 or so past years. Thankyou so much for that. And if there’s more, I’ll be here listening.
Listened yesterday and needed to listen again this morning before making any comment. What a stunningly beautiful and moving Podcast. I hope that such an honest and painful sharing brings you some strength and affirmation. You don’t create a Podcast you curate a Pink Floyd space that shines a light on their music, deepens our experiences and helps us listen in new ways.
Gilmour’s guitar voices were linked by your narrative which adds us the listener into the process. We all bring our own feelings into this shared experience which is the gift that music gives to us. The music may not have been written for us but as we listen it becomes ours. I have never been to a Floyd and family concert without ending up in tears at some stage. How can we help share this value that you bring with Sony? On a final thought never has silence been so moving “It never ends”……….
Finally ,my mothly joy is back!
we just need you…
Good to have you back
My favorite pod for lots of reasons. I share your feelings on Scattered, amazing song.
It’s good to have you back Doc! I certainly appreciate what you do and am grateful that you’re sticking to it. To be honest, if we get what you put out today every couple of months, it’ll be worth it. This is definitely one of my favorites. I’m sorry to hear that life is a bit tough right now, but keep your head up and shine on, my friend.
Hi Doc, we are very thankful for having you and – just as the AI said – sharing your huge passion with us!
Every release is a highlight, Doc. Keep them coming! Saw you in London sitting near DG brother @ RAH, wow he looks a lot like DG. Great show.
Thank you. Thank you for the years. And we care. You are my voice of Floyd. I’ll often turn to your shows instead of the albums.
Floyd music has always helped my madness. And your show has helped me through a lot. The choice of tracks today means that little more as I can feel the personal touch.
The archive you have given us over the years is priceless. Drop the schedule and record shows for fun. This should not be a chore. But know that there are fans of yours out here.
Take care of yourself. Hug the parents. Donation incoming.
Glad you’re back. Is there a playlist?
oh shit! i forgot…. here
What you do is appreciated by me more than I can say. I am here with tears streaming down my face saying thank you and please keep on keeping on.
Hi Doc, it´s nice see you sharing again your amazing podcast. So thank you & congrats!
Glad you are back. Loved the podcast.
Wonderful to finde some good music! 😉
Wow, not even all the way through…..been there, done that, just with my younger brother and sister passing within 2 years and their struggles……..hang in there Doc. Missed you, glad you are back. Monthly donation on the way.
Good to have you back.
Hope you keep going for a long time.
