Pavillion de Pigs

Show #171, Release date: 15. June, 2011

Here’s a long overdue Animals gig.  This particular recording comes a month after the album’s release.  The audience is generally very quiet and respectful, which is a refreshing change from the standard audience recording from this tour.  Not a single firework to be heard!  Live from Pavillion de Paris, Porte de Pantin, Paris, France, 22. February, 1977.

  1. I gave this a spin yesterday and have to agree with Steve, these are some damn excellent renditions. A question for the Doc, though – at intermission, you mention thinking that the Floyd might not be too keen on this show, if you listen closely. Would you be willing to disclose what your well-honed ear detected? As you say, the recording is excellent, and the audience is respectful. It must be something in the performance, but I didn’t catch anything unusual! Granted I was listening via speakers, not headphones, and wasn’t always paying strict attention. I did hear some weird keyboard disturbances/bursts of sound, I think during the opening of SOYCD. And the vocals aren’t always the best performances the guys were capable of, though they seem to make up for that in their playing. Anyway, just curious! I’ll give it another spin via headphones. It’s a great recording and performance, highly recommended, and thanks for bringing it to us Doc!

  2. This has become one of my “go to” podcasts. It is probably the hardest rocking selection of “Animals” and “Wish You Were Here” that PF ever did and it is amazing!
