Here’s a nice gem from nearly 51 years ago and its never sounded better! Amstel Free Concert at Amsterdamse Bos, a beautiful park in the heart of the city. It seems the promoters from Paradiso worked very hard to get Pink Floyd on the bill and were added at the last minute. Its an “out of the ordinary” set for Pink Floyd, 26th June 1971. Here’s the playlist.

Hi, I was at the concert in Amsterdamse bos in 1971. The forest is not in the center of the city, but between Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport. It rained that day and the concert was delayed due to earth fault, electrical problems due to the rain. They played late noon/early evening. I have been Pink Floyd fan since Umma Gumma, the Music is creating otherwordly emotions.
Hi Harry! Thanks for sharing your memories of being there. That’s very cool!
Question: which version is this of Seasons in the Sun? Never heard a country version before….And thank you for all you do!!!!
Thats Pearls Before Swine, the original version appears on their album, City of Gold
Wow. This show also has a performance of ‘Mother'(?) somewhere around 3/4 through …?
I think I mention it’s a studio demo without the brass or choir.
Doctor, is this the same concert as ‘Celestial Instruments’? I’ve had that download in my playlist for a long time; I always return to it for the uniqueness of Floyd jamming with no vocals. Glad to listen to a redux / updated version of course.
Fun to see “Humble Pie” listed on that poster. I hope they arranged the order of all those bands and the various setlists, for best audience effect. Hard to imagine America’s “Horse with No Name” being followed by ‘Careful With That Axe, Eugene’
Hey EB! This is a totally different concert than the one on Celestial Instruments podcast.
Got it. Thx!
A little while after I posted–I wondered. Has anyone ever used Google Map to pinpoint every tour and every venue a band like the Floyd might have ever played? Has anyone ever made a map of all the Floyd gigs? Turns out someone has. The site is: http://www.setlist.fm
Fookin ‘ scissoring!
